The Royals announced on Tuesday that the club acquired catcher Andrew Susac from the Orioles in exchange for cash considerations.
Susac, 29, spent the spring with the Orioles, batting .261 in 23 at-bats. He didn’t stand much of a shot cracking the Opening Day roster in Baltimore. The Royals, meanwhile, lost Salvador Perez for the season due to Tommy John surgery, so some extra catching depth can’t hurt.
Across parts of five seasons in the majors with the Giants, Brewers, and Orioles, Susac has hit .221/.283/.373 in 300 plate appearances.
