Let’s dwell on the negative for a second, shall we? The Mariners’ losing streak reached 13 games last night with a 7-4 loss to the Red Sox. Felix Hernandez gave up two runs over the first six innings, but the Red Sox put up a five-spot in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Sudden slugger Jacoby Ellsbury launched his 16th home run of the season (and his seventh this month) in the victory while John Lackey tossed seven innings of one-run ball for his third straight win.

The Mariners are now one loss away from tying their franchise record, previously set in September of 1992. It doesn’t get any easier tonight when they send rookie right-hander Blake Beavan to the hill against Josh Beckett.
