Outfielder Shane Victorino has been told that he won’t make the Cubs’ Opening Day roster, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports. The club has offered to allow him to rehab in Mesa, Arizona, then report to Triple-A Iowa for a month on a minor league deal, Gonzales adds. Victorino is as yet undecided.

Victorino suffered a calf injury during spring training and hasn’t appeared in a game since March 8. He had logged only two singles and a walk in 11 plate appearances.

This is yet more injury woes for Victorino, who played in only 71 games last year between the Red Sox and Angels, and 30 in 2014 with the Red Sox.
