MLB.com’s Jane Lee reports that Athletics catcher Stephen Vogt underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow. He has an expected recovery timetable of four to six weeks. The club expects he will be ready by Opening Day on April 4.

Vogt, 31, hit .261/.341/.443 with 18 home runs and 71 RBI in 511 plate appearances for the Athletics last season, his third with the club after joining the club following a trade from the Rays in April 2013. His performance behind the dish and at the plate resulted in his first All-Star nomination this past season.

Vogt will be eligible for arbitration for the first time after the 2016 season and can become a free agent after the 2019 season.
