In search of help at first base following news that they’ll be without Miguel Cabrera for six weeks, the Tigers have claimed Marc Krauss off waivers from the Rays.
Krauss has hit just .192 in the majors and has found himself on the waiver wire before, but the 27-year-old first baseman/corner outfielder has an .816 OPS with good power and plate discipline in 189 career games at Triple-A.
Obviously no one is going to come anywhere close to replacing Cabrera’s great production for the Tigers, but they’re looking for cheap short-term help and Krauss fits the bill.
