Bullpen help: Tigers sign Tom Gorzelanny

Left-hander Tom Gorzelanny has agreed to a one-year deal with the Tigers.

Gorzelanny began his career as a starter, but shifted (mostly) to the bullpen in 2012 and has a 2.88 ERA in 172 career innings as a reliever.

Gorzelanny missed the first two-and-a-half months of last season recovering from shoulder surgery, but was great upon returning to the Brewers in mid-June with a 0.86 ERA and 23/8 K/BB ratio in 21 innings.

He’s proven to be more than a left-handed specialist, so Gorzelanny could get some late-inning setup work in a Detroit bullpen that had all kinds of issues in 2014.
