Tony La Russa denies Diamondbacks ownership blocked Miguel Montero-for-Andre Ethier

FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported over the weekend that Diamondbacks majority owner Ken Kendrick vetoed a trade that would have sent Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier, catcher Tim Federowicz, and cash to Arizona for catcher Miguel Montero and multiple lower-level prospects. It was a concerning story -- meddlesome ownership rejecting the ideas of a brand new management team? -- but now comes a firm denial from Diamondbacks chief baseball officer Tony La Russa ...

Tony La Russa said ownership did not block a Montero/Ethier deal with the Dodgers from happening, contrary to a published report.

La Russa added that ownership has not deemed Montero untouchable and that a trade with the Dodgers could still happen, though he said “the conversations are not what they were before” and “it’s less likely.”
