Angels outfielder Torii Hunter had to be lifted from Wednesday’s game against the Marlins after crashing into the right field wall while making a dazzling leaping catch on a Gaby Sanchez fly ball.

Hunter laid on the ground for several moments before eventually walking off the field under his own power. He was spotted smiling as he entered the dugout and has apparently avoided a major injury.

According to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times, Hunter has been diagnosed with a left posterior rib contusion. In other words, a bruise.

X-rays were negative. He’s being called “day-to-day.”

Vernon Wells moved to right field and Peter Bourjos entered to play center. Hunter shouldn’t miss more than a game or two, and there’s a chance he won’t miss any time at all.
