Polanco, a 22-year-old from the Dominican, was officially promoted to the majors on Tuesday after batting .347/.405/.540 with seven home runs, 49 RBI, 15 stolen bases, and 47 runs scored over his first 62 games this season at Triple-A Indianapolis. His single Tuesday was followed by an Andrew McCutchen two-run shot. Polanco turned down a seven-year contract offer from the Bucs in early May that likely would have expedited his promotion, but he’s up now and should be a mainstay in the Pirates’ outfield for a long time.
