Cal Ripken Jr. is auctioning off his old truck, a 1994 Chevy Suburban that he drove to the ballpark the night he broke Lou Gehrig’s consecutive games record in September of 1995.
Hunt Auctions is running the bidding, which goes through August 28 and includes the following:
The winning bidder will receive first class airfare and lodging for two to Baltimore where they will be invited to attend the Sports Legends Museum Gala honoring Cal and fellow Hall of Famer Eddie Murray on September 5th as well as Cal’s statue unveiling at Camden Yards on September 6th. During this time they will meet Cal and receive the keys to the truck from him.
According to Ripken funds from the auction will go toward “helping kids and building fields.”
