Gerry Davis has been named crew chief for the umpires assigned to the World Series and he’ll be behind the plate for Game 1, setting a new MLB record with his 112th career postseason game.

Other members of Davis’ crew include Brian Gorman, Fieldin Culbreth, Dan Iassogna, Brian O’Nora, and Joe West, whose inclusion is sure to raise some eyebrows considering his well-earned reputation as an attention-seeking instigator with a short fuse. He had an incident with the Tigers just two months ago.

Davis and West have each worked five World Series and combine for 64 years of MLB umpiring experience, while Iassogna and O’Nora will be working their first World Series.
