You can vote on which player has the best dog if you’re into that sort of thing

Max dog

In this Friday, June 12, 2015 photo, the dog, Max, poses for a portrait in promotion of his new film “Max” at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles. The movie releases in U.S. theaters on June 26, 2015. (Photo by Rebecca Cabage/Invision/AP)

My bonafides as a cat person are sterling. I don’t need to tell you that, even if I do sometimes. But just because I am a cat guy, it does not mean I do not like dogs.

Dogs are cute and loving and loyal and in many cases useful. I can see and appreciate that even if my own particular tastes and lifestyle lends itself to cute, sometimes loving, annoyingly calculating and, frankly, useless cats. The heart wants what it wants.

To that end, I happily link you to Cut4’s little survey, asking you to rank the best MLB player-owned dogs. I’m partial to Joc Pederson’s for what it’s worth.

Still, if I’m gonna go with a winner here, it has to be Matt Duffy. No, his dog did not make the list. Because he doesn’t have one. He has a cat and cats rule, dudes.
