The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Yuniesky Betancourt will ask for his release this weekend if he’s not added to the Phillies’ 25-man roster. Which he may very well not be given that Kevin Frandsen and Freddy Galvis are already around.

Thing is, Betancourt has had a heck of a spring. He’s hitting .439 with a .957 OPS. No, that doesn’t make up for the fact that his entire career demonstrates that he’s an offensive liability -- and that he’s really no great shakes with the glove either -- but someone will look at those numbers and say “maybe ... just maybe ...”
