Lollis was hitless in just five at-bats in his brief stint with the big club. He’s clearing room for the return of Hunter Pence from the disabled list.

The Giants continue to give the outfielder regular rest in order to keep his knees fresh. Gregor Blanco will start in center field and bat leadoff for the Giants against Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals on Saturday, while Ryan Lollis draws his first major league start in left field.

Lollis, 28, has hit .358/.431/.500 with three homers and seven steals across three levels in the minors this season. He’ll be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.

The 28-year-old has been terrific in 63 games at Triple-A, slashing .333/.387/.473 with four homers and 29 RBI. He’ll provide depth in the outfield while Nori Aoki is sidelined.
