Scott Cassidy will be called up on Friday rejoin the Padres’ bullpen.
Cassidy had a 1.67 ERA in 25 appearances with the Padres earlier this season. He won’t have much fantasy value, but he should be a great addition to the bullpen.

Red Sox re-signed RHP Scott Cassidy to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Cassidy, who spent his first six years in the Toronto system before being signed by Boston last winter, had a 3.46 ERA in 12 starts and 16 relief appearances for Triple-A Pawtucket in 2004. It will take injuries to get him back to the majors for the first time since 2002.

Padres purchased the contract of RHP Scott Cassidy from Triple-A Portland.
Cassidy, acquired from the Red Sox for Adam Hyzdu in July, had a 1.89 ERA in 17 relief appearances for Portland. He’ll get most of his innings in games that have already been decided.

Red Sox purchased the contract of RHP Scott Cassidy from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Tim Bausher would have been the better choice, but he pitched three innings yesterday. Cassidy, who had a 3.81 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 59 IP for Pawtucket, is back in the majors for the first time since 2002. He probably won’t hang around for long.

Padres acquired RHP Scott Cassidy from the Red Sox for outfielder Adam Hyzdu.
Cassidy, who made one appearance for the Red Sox earlier this month, had a 4.05 ERA in three starts and 23 relief appearances for Triple-A Pawtucket. The 29-year-old will report to Triple-A Portland and it’s unlikely he’ll see time in the majors with the Padres.

Red Sox sent RHP Scott Cassidy outright to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Cassidy gave up three runs in two-thirds of an inning in his lone appearance for the Red Sox.

Padres activated RHP Scott Cassidy from the 15-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Portland.
Cassidy was very good in middle relief for the Padres last year, but the team just doesn’t have any room for him right now. He’ll get a chance later on.

Scott Cassidy (knee surgery) made his first rehab appearance with Triple-A Portland on Friday.
Cassidy is still a few weeks before being an option to be activated from the disabled list.

Scott Cassidy, returning from knee surgery, pitched his sixth scoreless inning Sunday in his rehab assignment for Triple-A Portland.
Cassidy is ready when needed, but the Padres don’tt have room for him. Justin Hampson has been terrific in middle relief, but he still figures to be a goner when Clay Hensley is activated. The San Diego pitching staff is so strong that Rule-5 pick Kevin Cameron, who hasn’t allowed a run in 16 1/3 innings this season, hasn’t made an appearance in more than two weeks.

RHP Scott Cassidy announced his retirement.
Cassidy was in Brewers camp as a non-roster invitee, but posted an ugly 27.00 ERA in his first two spring outings. The 31-year-old had a 2.53 ERA in 42 2/3 innings with the Padres in 2006, but had a 6.53 ERA at Triple-A last season.
