GMS Racing announces Truck Series driver-crew chief lineup for 2016

GMS Racing has formally announced its driver-crew chief lineup for the 2016 Camping World Truck Series season.

The three drivers for GMS will be Johnny Sauter, Spencer Gallagher and Grant Enfinger.

The new additions to the team are Sauter and Enfinger, a rookie. Sauter joins the three-team operation after spending the last seven years with ThorSport Racing.

The team announced Sauter will be paired with crew chief Marcus Richmond. Richmond has been a crew chief in the Truck series since 2006 and spent the last two seasons working with Timothy Peters.

“I can’t explain how excited I am for the 2016 season and to get to work with Johnny Sauter and the rest of the GMS Racing team,” said Richmond in a release. “This is a strong organization that has the ability to compete for a title. I look forward to working with Jeff Hensley and Jeff Stankiewicz and building off of the experience we all have. We have three drivers that will be able to learn a lot from each other and contribute to the overall success of GMS Racing.”

Enfinger, 30, has competed in six Truck races while spending the last two years racing full time in the ARCA Series, where he won six races each year. Enfinger’s crew chief will be Jeff Stankiewicz, who spent last year with Gallagher. Gallagher, entering his sophomore year with GMS Racing and in the Truck Series, will be crew chiefed by Jeff Hensley.

“I’m happy that Grant Enfinger will have the opportunity to show his talent in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series,” said Stankiewicz in a release. “He’s incredibly focused and such a hard worker, and having teammates that can provide guidance and support will help him develop into an even better driver. With Johnny Sauter joining the team, he knows what it takes to win and will contribute a great deal to the development of our program.”

The 2016 Truck season is set to begin on Feb. 19 with the Nextera Energy Resources 250.
