Kenseth out of Bank of America 500 after tire problems leads to wreck

Matt Kenseth’s day “snowballed” out of control and led to the Bank of America 500 pole-sitter wrecking out and finishing 42nd due to a tire issue. Despite being 29 points below the cut line and not finishing, Kenseth says he’s still taking things one race at a time heading into the next race in the second round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup at Kansas Speedway.

Kenseth started from the pole before he made contact with Ryan Newman and hit the frontstretch wall early on in the race.

“I’ve got to go look at it. He went up like I thought he was broke, so I went up through the middle and I thought I left him plenty of room and then next thing I know I was pointed at the fence,” Kenseth said. “There’s not a ton of room over there, but I thought there was enough room for three of us. I just got it in the right rear and put it in the wall, so after that we had the front end bent and we just kind of blew a tire.”
