Kurt Busch paces field in Sprint Cup practice at Phoenix

Kurt Busch, who will start Sunday’s race second, posted the fastest single lap in practice Saturday morning at Phoenix International Raceway with a lap of 139.627 mph.

He was followed by Carl Edwards (139.260 mph) and Kyle Larson (139.152 mph). Kevin Harvick, who has won each of the past four Phoenix races was next at 139.147 mph.

Busch also had the fastest average over 10 laps (138.83 mph) and 15 laps (138.30). Johnson was second in both. Carl Edwards ranked third over a 10-lap run at (137.75) and was followed by teammates Kyle Busch (137.61) and Denny Hamlin (137.45).

There were no incidents in the session.

One Sprint Cup practice remains today.
