Kyle Busch posted the fastest single lap in Saturday morning’s Sprint Cup practice session at Bristol Motor Speedway with a lap of 126.370 mph. Rookie Chase Elliott was next at 126.253 mph.

Busch also posted the best average for 10 consecutive laps at 125.569 mph. Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Carl Edwards was next at 124.762 mph.

There was one incident in the session. Denny Hamlin and Danica Patrick made contact. Neither will need a backup car.

“I had just come out on tires,’' Patrick said. “They were cold and I wasn’t very good anyway, I was pretty loose. I came down the front straightaway and I put my finger out the window to point (Hamlin) by, but he hit my on entry. Man, I love Denny, but he makes a lot of mistakes behind me.

“I don’t know if he misjudged it or I was going slower than he thought, but I put my finger out the window and pointed him by. I had no intention to race him. I was not fast enough. I don’t know, but the guys are going to try and fix it.”

Hamlin told Fox Sports 1 that he did not see Patrick point him to the inside.’'
