NASCAR America: Harvick says All-Star race was start of a new direction

The NASCAR America crew reviews the Monster Energy Cup Series All‑Star Race, with thoughts from Kevin Harvick andJoey Logano.

After winning the 2018 All-Star Race, Kevin Harvick shared his impression of the new rules that were used for the event. Obviously happy with the outcome, he acknowledged the challenge of racing in traffic and anticipates NASCAR will use the package again.

“That was wild. I think as you look at the end of the third stage there, that was really the key to the win for us,” Harvick said. “Our car was super-fast, but traffic was not our friend. That’s the reason I kept picking the outside on those restarts.”

More importantly, Harvick sees this new package as a direction in which NASCAR will ultimately head.

“I’m glad they did it for the All-Star race and I think five years down the road we’ll look back on tonight and say that was the start of…” Harvick then paused dramatically before saying, “whatever it is.”
