Brennan Poole has officially won the unofficial “Best Helmet in Daytona Award,” (as judged by this writer) and second place isn’t even close.
Poole, who drives the No. 48 for Chip Ganassi Racing in the Xfinity Series, will wear a Star Wars-themed helmet for this weekend’s Powershares QQQ 300 at Daytona International Speedway.
The helmet, designed and hand painted by Jason Beam of BEAMdesigns, is based off the helmet Luke Skywalker wore in Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope during the pivotal Battle of Yavin.
The red symbol displayed on the front of the helmet is the logo of the Rebel Alliance, which Skywalker joins to fight the Empire as he pilots his X-Wing fighter with the designation “Red 5.”
Beam is also responsible for the helmet designs for Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Kurt Busch and Ryan Blaney.
Pretty stoked on how this this came out! Thanks @BEAMdesigns https://t.co/DTMwSYr6Rr
