NASCAR issues penalties for Sprint Cup, Xfinity infractions at Dover

NASCAR announced several penalties Wednesday to teams in the Sprint Cup and Xfinity series stemming from last weekend’s races at Dover.

All cars cited either failed the laser platform part of the inspection process or were penalized for other infractions.

The penalties included 15-minute car holds during this weekend’s practices at Charlotte and written warnings.

Here’s the breakdown:

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series:

* The No. 14 Chevrolet (driver: Tony Stewart) for rear bumper tubing round in prerace. Penalty: written warning.

* The No. 41 Chevrolet (driver: Kurt Busch) for rear bumper tubing round in prerace. Penalty: written warning.

* The No. 23 Toyota (driver: J.J. Yeley) for failing laser platform race inspection too many times. Penalty: written warning.

* The No. 46 Chevrolet (driver: Michael Annett) for failing laser platform race inspection too many times. Penalty: written warning.

* The No. 6 Ford (driver: Trevor Bayne) for failing laser platform race inspection too many times. Penalty: written warning.

* The No. 78 Chevrolet (driver: Martin Truex Jr.) for failing laser platform race inspection too many times. Penalty: written warning.

In addition, these penalties previously were assessed but will be served this weekend at Charlotte:

* The No. 4 Chevrolet (driver: Kevin Harvick) failed laser inspection three times in prequalifying and twice in race inspection at New Hampshire. Penalty: 15-minute practice hold.

* The No. 95 Ford (driver: Michael McDowell) for previous infraction where penalty was not served. Penalty: 15-minute practice hold.

NASCAR XFINITY Series:

* The No. 22 Ford (driver: Ryan Blaney) for failing laser platform race inspection too many times. Penalty: written warning.

* The No. 62 Chevrolet (driver: Brendan Gaughan) for failing laser platform race inspection too many times. Penalty: written warning.

* The No. 88 Chevrolet (driver: Ben Rhodes) for failing laser platform race inspection too many times. Penalty: written warning.

* The No. 33 Chevrolet (driver: Austin Dillon) for failing laser platform race inspection too many times. Penalty: written warning plus 15-minute practice hold.
