Number crunching: A look at key numbers after Phoenix NASCAR Sprint Cup race 500 500

A few numbers of note after Sunday’s race at Phoenix International Raceway:

2 - Teams that will be penalized 15 minutes of practice time in the first session this weekend at Auto Club Speedway. Matt DiBenedetto’s BK Racing team was penalized for failing pre-qualifying inspection more than two times. Alex Bowman’s Tommy Baldwin Racing team did not get into line for pre-race inspection on time.

4 - Drivers who were outside the top 20 in points after four races last year and went on to make the Chase. Those where Aric Almirola (20th), Kevin Harvick (21st), AJ Allmendinger (25th) and Kurt Busch (31st).

5.8 - Average finish for Martin Truex Jr. in the first four races of this season.

6.3 - Average number of positions AJ Allmendinger has gained in the final 10 percent of races this season. Ranks first in series in category.

7 - Consecutive top-2 finishes by Phoenix winner Kevin Harvick.

12 - Finishing spot for top Roush Fenway Racing car (Ricky Stenhouse Jr.) at Phoenix.

13 - Finishing spot for top Joe Gibbs Racing car (Carl Edwards) at Phoenix.

28.8 - Average finish for Martin Truex Jr. in the first four races last season.

30 - Career wins by Kevin Harvick to rank 23rd on the all-time list. He’s one win behind Matt Kenseth, two behind NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Jarrett and three behind NASCAR Hall of Famer Fireball Roberts.

36.0 - Average finish this season for Tony Stewart after he placed 39th at Phoenix after the an accident ended his race.

43.5 - Percentage of the 1,107 laps run this season Kevin Harvick has led (482).

99.46 - Percentage of laps run on the lead lap by Joey Logano, best in the series. He’s run all but six of 1,107 laps on the lead lap.
