Today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Phoenix: Start time, lineup, TV information and more

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Good Sam 500 - Practice

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will play host today to the Good Sam 500 at Phoenix International Raceway.

Here are the particulars (all times are ET):

START: Mark Goggess, Good Sam Chief Operating Officer, will give the command for drivers to start their engines. The command will be given at 3:38 p.m. ET. The green flag is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.

DISTANCE: The race is scheduled for 312 laps (312 miles = 500 kilometers) around the 1-mile track.

PRERACE SCHEDULE: The Sprint Cup garage opens at 9:30 a.m. The drivers meeting is at 1:30 p.m. Driver introductions are at 3 p.m.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: Jordan Fisher, actor and Hollywood Records recording artist, will perform the anthem at 3:31 p.m., followed by a flyover from two F-35s from Luke Air Force Base.

TV/RADIO: Fox will broadcast the race, beginning at 3 p.m.. Motor Racing Network will broadcast the race on radio and at beginning at 2:30 p.m. SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will carry MRN’s broadcast.

FORECAST: The site predicts 75 degrees at race time with a 0% chance of rain.

LAST YEAR: Dale Earnhardt Jr. won last November’s rain-shortened race. Kevin Harvick, who led 143 of the 219 laps, finished second with Joey Logano third. In March, Harvick led 224 of 312 laps to win. Jamie McMurray was second and Ryan Newman third.

TO THE BACK: Jimmie Johnson will start at the rear because he went to a backup car after crashing in qualifying. Kasey Kahne also will start at the rear after making an engine change after qualifying.
