WATCH LIVE at 5 pm ET: NASCAR America -- Furniture Row’s challenges, significance of Michigan race

Today’s edition of NASCAR America spans a good chunk of the country, from Charlotte, west to Denver and back eastward to Michigan.

Starting at 5 pm ET, Rick Allen hosts in our Stamford (Conn.) studio, alongside analysts Steve Letarte and Jeff Burton.

Among today’s show highlights:

* The single-car Furniture Row Racing team, a satellite operation of Richard Childress Racing, is the only Sprint Cup team headquartered west of the Mississippi River. Based in Denver, Colo., we present an amazing four-minute feature on what makes Furniture Row so unique – and the challenges the team faces fielding a NASCAR operation nearly 1,600 miles west of Charlotte.

* We discuss the importance of this weekend’s race at Michigan to the sport, particularly since the track lies in the backyard of several major car and equipment manufacturers that are and have been such a vital and integral part of NASCAR and its history.

* Jeff and Steve break down the nuances of Michigan International Speedway. At two miles long, MIS is the fastest track on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit, with Jeff Gordon setting a qualifying record there last August of 206.558 mph.
