In one of Thursday’s most low-key moves before the trade deadline, the Thunder traded Ish Smith (and the rights to Latavious Williams and cash considerations) to the Pelicans (for draft considerations).

New Orleans waived Smith, but he didn’t remain a free agent for long.

76ers release:

The Philadelphia 76ers announced today that the team has signed guard Ishmael “Ish” Smith.
In a related move, the Sixers have waived forward Malcolm Thomas.

Smith has bounced around, playing for the Rockets, Grizzlies, Warriors, Magic, Bucks, Suns and Thunder in his five-year NBA career. He was also selected by the 76ers’ D-League affiliate in its 2013 expansion draft, so there is a previous connection with the organization.

Smith, a speedy point guard, is another developmental prospect for Philadelphia.
