This was a bit of housekeeping. Expected news but now it is official.

Al Harrington and DeShawn Stevenson have cleared waivers and are now free agents, reports Marc Stein of ESPN. Again, not a shock as, for example, nobody was going to pick up the $14.7 million left on Harrington’s contract (his buyout with Orlando was likely for the $7.4 million guaranteed on his deal). Orlando waived Harrington, Atlanta Stevenson.

Now both can sign with any team, they just have to prove they are healthy.

The question with Harrington is health — he has battled knee issues for a couple of seasons and last season he didn’t return until February then only played in 10 games. He has dropped 27 pounds in workouts, is he back to being the guy who averaged 14.2 points a game two seasons ago? If so he has value.

Stevenson has value as well if healthy — but there is no way the Heat are picking him up. Stevenson had a knee problem last year and averaged 5.1 points a game in the 56 games he actually got in.

Someone likely picks them up for the minimum.
