MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — NBA prospect Ben Simmons has been included along with Andrew Bogut, Patty Mills, and Matthew Dellavedova in an extended 26-player Australia squad to prepare for the Olympics in Rio.
Boomers coach Andrej Lemanis announced the squad on Monday, including seven NBA players and all 12 involved in the Oceania qualifying series win over New Zealand last year.
Simmons, a 2.08 meter (6-foot-10) forward and freshman at Louisiana State University, has been projected to be the No. 1 pick in next year’s NBA draft in June.
The Australia squad will be cut to 16 for the selection camp from July 5-10 before being trimmed to 12 for the Olympic Games in August.
