Brandon Bass has offers from six teams besides Celtics

Miami Heat v Boston Celtics - Game Four

BOSTON, MA - JUNE 03: Brandon Bass #30 of the Boston Celtics looks to move the ball in the post against Shane Battier #31 of the Miami Heat in Game Four of the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2012 NBA Playoffs on June 3, 2012 at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Brandon Bass proved to be a huge upgrade for Boston over Glen Davis last season. By bringing consistent, professional effort nightly for one reason. In the playoffs his midrange game and timely cuts to the basket were a perfect fit in the Celtics offense.

But as comes with success, the price of keeping the band together goes up.

Bass has drawn a lot of interest, reports the Boston Herald.

Agent Tony Dutt talked to Celtics in the midst of a busy day. Dutt said six other teams also called, meaning that Bass’ price is on a sharp climb. It may ultimately be more than the Celtics want to pay, considering the number of players they have to cram into a $20 million hole. If they have to let a player go, perhaps via a sign-and-trade deal, Bass could be that guy.

“We had a great conversation and we’ll continue to talk,” said Dutt. “Everything was very positive. We understand that they care about him, but we have to look at all of our options. It’s our job to look at everything and make good decisions.”

The Celtics drafted Jared Sullinger, who could fill a similar role but lacks the experience of Bass — the rookie will not have the same production. But the Celtics can’t keep everyone and have their salary in check.
