Byron Scott will not be your next Sixers coach

While the coaching carousel is just starting to spin for this summer, the list of guys getting interview has become pretty standardized.

Tom Thibodeau, Dwane Casey, Doug Collins, Mark Jackson, Byron Scott -- these guys all get calls.

Except in Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The 76ers do not plan to contact Byron Scott regarding the team’s coaching vacancy, according to a source close to the situation.

A different NBA source confirmed that Scott would have been interested in interviewing for the position, if he’d been given the opportunity. Scott, who coached the New Jersey Nets while (Sixers general manager Ed) Stefanski was general manager there, was fired as Hornets coach midway through the 2009-10 season.

This came after Jackson pulled himself out of the running for the job.

The Sixers are interviewing, but are not rushing to make a decision and an offer. That will likely not come for at least a few more weeks,
