Derek Fisher on Knicks’ struggles: “I have to do a better job”

After a red-hot first half, the Knicks’ offense died down the stretch of their 90-84 Friday loss to the Cavaliers. They shot 4-for-21 in the fourth quarter to fall to 4-6 on the season. Head coach Derek Fisher is putting the blame at his own feet.

From’s Ian Begley:

For the second straight game, the Knicks failed to hold a significant fourth-quarter lead. And for the second straight game, they walked off the court knowing they let a precious opportunity slip away.

Derek Fisher put the onus on himself.

“I have to do a better job of putting guys in position to be successful out there,” the coach said. “They’re doing what we’re asking them to do.”

So far, Fisher has been experimenting with different crunch-time lineups, which is understandable with a roster that has so many new players. But they’re losing winnable games, and so far it’s clear that they’re not as bad as their record.
