Golden State Warriors teammates Draymond Green and Ian Clark will be out with injuries against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night. That’s according to the San Jose Mercury News, who say the team is being cautious after the two collided in a game against the Los Angeles Lakers earlier in the week.

Green will miss the matchup due to a left ankle contusion. Clark -- who slammed into his teammates’ knee -- has a hurt throat.

From The Mercury News:

“They’re both doing better,” Steve Kerr said. “Draymond had an MRI that was fine. But it didn’t make sense to play him. It’s still a little sore. Ian is doing well. But it was pretty scary what happened to him, so we don’t want to take any chances.”

Kerr texted Green this afternoon after his MRI showed no issues. The two mutually decided that, on the rough end of this back-to-back, it was wise he sit. “He didn’t fight me on it,” Kerr said. “He was on board.”

Backup forward Kevin Looney will start in place of the resting Green. The 20-year-old Looney will have a tough task as he tries to matchup with a frontcourt that features Karl-Anthony Towns.
