The Spurs made history by hiring Becky Hammon as an assistant coach last summer.

She could soon have company in the female assistant-coaching ranks.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

Sacramento coach George Karl could try to add one assistant to the Kings staff for the balance of this season – perhaps Philadelphia’s Vance Walberg – but he’s already started to formulate possibilities for next season and beyond.

Among them, Karl plans to consider the assistant-coaching candidacy of Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Lieberman has not only coached in the WNBA, she coached the Mavericks’ D-League affiliate. So, she has experience with the men’s game, which is quite different stylistically.

There are a lot of coaches with résumés that qualify them for consideration for Karl’s staff. Lieberman is one of them.
