Gus Johnson, an original high flyer

In Gus Johnson’s era, the game was played below the rim. Great players like Bob Cousey and Bill Russell were not leaping out of the building -- but Gus Johnson was. Starting in 1962 he came in and started to change how the game was played. Elgin Baylor had started the revolution but Johnson was one of the guys that took the game to new heights. Literally.

And with that paved the way for the game today. Which is why he is going into the International Basketball Hall of Fame today.
