The Nuggets might have found THE most excruciating way to lose – a fantastic feat of failing, impressive in the methodical way it played out.

Denver ceded a game-ending 9-0 run – all points on free throws, including one following a Michael Malone technical foul – in a 109-108 loss to the Hawks tonight.

Dennis Schroder made the first seven throws of the run, and Paul Millsap added the game-winning free throws with six seconds left. Did Atlanta benefit from shaky officiating on some of those calls? There’s a case. The two-minute report will be interesting.

But did the Nuggets also self-destruct? Yup. They went scoreless on their final five possessions after taking a 108-100 lead with 1:43 left, and Malone lost his composure when his team couldn’t afford it.
