Heat outsmart Knicks, who are attempting to intentionally foul (video)

NBA commissioner Adam Silver has called Hack-a-Shaq strategies fascinating.

This is an excellent example.

The Knicks intentionally fouled Hassan Whiteside, who missed both free throws. So, New York tried again on the following possession.

Kristaps Porzingis didn’t foul Whiteside quick enough, causing Knicks guard Jose Calderon to point for his rookie teammate to commit the foul. As he called to Porzingis, Calderon lost track of his man – Goran Dragic, who cut to the rim. Meanwhile, Whiteside ran from Porzingis.

That allowed Dragic time to make a layup.

Well done by the Heat. Not so much by the Knicks, who can’t even intentionally foul correctly. (By the way, it’s getting much harder to mock the Knicks this season.)
