Joel Embiid took a fine for saying “F--- LaVar Ball” on Instagram Live.

But that doesn’t mean the 76ers center has an actual problem with LaVar or Lonzo Ball.

Embiid, via Ramona Shelburne of ESPN:

“I love Lonzo,” Embiid told ESPN. “The whole situation with them, I think it’s just fun. I love what he’s doing, especially with his own shoe. He’s staking his own place. People think I hate him, but I love him.”

Embiid and Lonzo are both promising NBA players. Embiid and LaVar are both adept at using social media to garner attention.

Embiid has plenty in common with the Balls. He could turn that into a rivalry, friendly or otherwise. But he clearly finds it preferable to be on the same side.
