The Boston Celtics are shopping Rajon Rondo for a trade. No, seriously this time. They mean it. They are not Lucy holding the football. Go ahead, run up and try to kick it Charlie Brown.
But that is not the only guy they are shopping, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports.
They want a first round pick for Green? I want to be sipping a 2005 Château Pétrus with Evangeline Lilly tonight before dinner. So what?
Green has some trade value out there but not first round pick quality, or at least not without a boatload of conditions on it that would keep it close to the end of the first round for years. Green is having the best season of his career at age 28 averaging 19.7 points a game with a good true shooting percentage of .567. He has been more consistent, which was always the big issue with Green. He has one more year on his contract at $9.4 million (it’s a player option but he likely picks it up and hits the market in two years when the salary cap may spike).
This seems like a player more likely to be moved than Rondo, but maybe not at the first price GM Danny Ainge requests. There is going to be some haggling.
