Report: Derrick Rose has been increasingly frustrated with Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek
According to the latest reports about Derrick Rose going AWOL from the Knicks, he told the team he was dealing with a family matter and was believed to be back in Chicago.
But that hasn’t prevented his mysterious disappearance from being tied to basketball.Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:
Rose has been increasingly frustrated with how this Knicks season has unfolded, culminating with him privately fuming over his diminished late-game role in Friday night’s victory in Milwaukee, sources said. Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek played undrafted rookie Ron Baker over Rose in the fourth quarter.
Rose has been privately critical of Hornacek, but no one in the locker room – or management – has expressed any issues with how Hornacek has coached Rose, league sources said.
Frank Isola of the New York Daily News:
Rose is probably unhappy with Hornacek. Nearly all starters who get benched late in games are unhappy with their coach. But practically none of them leave their team in the dark and skip a game.
Did Rose take that drastic step in response to bickering with Hornacek? Perhaps. But I wouldn’t make that assumption.
Rose can be feuding with Hornacek. Rose can be dealing with a family matter. Those things are not mutually exclusive, and it’s even possible both contributed to his absence.
Where the line falls will surely be investigated.
