Report: Kings to fire George Karl

The Kings have wanted George Karl gone for a while (and on and off before that).

Tomorrow, they’ll finally oust him.

Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee:

Multiple league sources have indicated Karl will be fired Thursday.

This was a miserable season for Karl, who alienated franchise player DeMarcus Cousins, bothered several other players, oversaw a lousy defense and failed to find reliable offense when fast-breaking didn’t work. Karl did a poor job, and firing him is the right move.

But that won’t solve Sacraemto’s bigger problems.

Owner Vivek Ranadivé has shown no ability to head a functional organization. General manager Vlade Divac doesn’t sound like he understands what the Kings need to win. The players, beyond Cousins, leave too much to be desired.

Karl will soon be out of his misery, and he’ll have the remaining portion of his guaranteed contract to fall back on. Everyone else in Sacramento will be left to do the heavy lifting.
