Report: Thunder to sign veteran big man Nazr Mohammed for rest of season
The Oklahoma City Thunder will sign veteran center Nazr Mohammed on Saturday to a contract for the remainder of the season, league sources told The Vertical.
Mohammed, a 17-year NBA veteran, returns to the franchise for which he played parts of two seasons from 2010-12. Mohammed was part of the Thunder team that reached the 2012 NBA Finals, playing a backup center role.
Mohammed played the last three seasons with the Bulls but hasn’t played in the NBA this season. At age 38, he doesn’t have much left from a basketball standpoint, but he’s been a well-respected veteran throughout his 17-year career, in which he’s played for eight different franchises, including a previous stint with the Thunder from 2011 to 2012.
