Karl Anthony-Towns initially planned not to work out for any NBA teams.

But he ultimately worked out for the Timberwolves.

His reward?

Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog:

The Minnesota Timberwolves have informed Karl-Anthony Towns that they will select him with the No. 1 pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft, a source close to Towns told SNY.tv.

This will be the right pick, and even though Flip Saunders had his initial doubts, it’s not surprising.

Towns is the top talent in the draft, a well-rounded big man with size and athleticism on his side. What really sets him apart from Jahlil Okafor is his versatility, which will give the Timberwolves flexibility as they build their roster around Towns and Andrew Wiggins.

The future looks bright in Minnesota.
