Ronnie Brewer was the one guy who wanted to be in Utah, had to go to Chicago
All summer long there was talk about players trying to get to Miami or New York or Chicago — nobody wanted to be in the small markets, everybody wanted to go big time.
Not Ronnie Brewer.
He wanted to stay on Utah, but they didn’t want him, Brewer told Chris Tomasson of FanHouse. So he was part of the “sort of big three” that went from Utah to the Bulls.
The two sides couldn’t reach a deal for an extension after the 2009 season, so this is the result. Which is not all bad for Brewer — Utah and the Bulls are both good teams, but the Bulls future looks brighter with a young core. Brewer’s defensive mindset likely will earn him minutes under Tom Thibodeau.
The other bright side Brewer: Way better pizza in Chicago. Way. Better.
