Everybody loves the idea of trading Kevin Martin. Boston, Dallas, Minnesota, Houston all have their eye on the struggling young shooter. Everyone thinks he’s on the market.
Everyone except the management in Sacramento.
I don’t even know what that means, but it can’t be good if your goal was to have Martin on your team by Feb.18.
The Kings don’t just want cap space, they want good young players. Sacramento’s Sam Amick points out that Martin isn’t going to Boston for Ray Allen unless Kendrick Perkins or Rajon Rondo is on that plane west, too. Not going to happen as Boston still thinks it has a shot at the title if it can just get healthy (which may require a witch doctor).
It’s the same everywhere else: Minnesota wants to keep its young pieces, while Dallas doesn’t have any young pieces (that it will trade, anyway). For the rest of this season, it looks like the Kevin Martin along side Tyreke Evans experiment will continue. It looked pretty good the last two minutes plus overtime in New York last night.
