Tyronn Lue on LeBron James: ‘He never gets calls’

The Cavaliers are frustrated.

They’re taking out some of it on the officials.

Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue on LeBron James, via ASAP Sports:

He never gets calls. I mean, he attacks. He’s one of the most -- outside of Russell Westbrook, he’s one of the guys that attacks the paint every single play. And he doesn’t get a fair whistle all the time because of his strength and because of his power and guys bounce off of him. But those are still fouls and we weren’t able to get them. But we’ve got to play through officiating.

Lue has a point. He’ll probably get fined for this. But he has a point.

Officiating the most physically impressive players has always been a challenge, and LeBron is no different. Shaquille O’Neal is the quintessential example.

LeBron attempted just four free throws in Game 4 and is averaging 4.3 per game in the series. That’s probably too low for the contact he takes.

But, to be fair, the referees have been relatively consistent. The Cavs have also gotten away with plenty of contact on the defensive end. It’s one of the reasons they held Stephen Curry in check until last night.

Lue might get what he’s lobbying for, but if the fix is applied equally, I’m not sure it benefits Cleveland.
