Bradley Beal has played like an All-Star this season, averaging 23 points per game on 49% shooting, including 47% on 3-pointers.
But there might be a setback in the Wizards guard’s ascendance.
Beal left Washington’s loss to the Hawks on Saturday after getting kneed by Jeff Teague in the shoulder and then swiping for a steal at Thabo Sefolosha, a play that didn’t appear to include contact. Beal looked to be in considerable pain as he grabbed his shoulder and left the court.
J. Michael of CSN WashingtonExactly how severe is Bradley Beal’s left shoulder injury after a collision in Saturday’s 114-99 loss to the Atlanta Hawks won’t be known until he goes through complete evaluation, team officials said, and they’re likely to have an answer Sunday.
“I have no idea,” coach Randy Wittman responded when asked about Beal
An extended absence would be bad news for the Wizards, who’ve lost two straight – by 20 to the Celtics and 15 to the Hawks – after Beal’s 3-pointer downed the Spurs.
It could also be devastating for Beal, who didn’t get a contract extension. Fortunately, it’s early in the season, and I’d be shocked if this is serious enough to jeopardize his future earnings. But it’s always a little scary for a player who doesn’t have that long-term security.
