Former Saints receiver Michael Thomas saw current Saints receiver Chris Olave suffer a concussion on a high ball thrown by Saints quarterback Derek Carr.

And that prompted Thomas to tee off on Carr.

“Derek Carr for you I been told yall shit sad,” Thomas said initially. “Dude scary and panic and just throw the ball. Get him the f out of here he so ass. . . .
That year his buddy [Davante Adams] went 1st team all pro in 2022 he needed 180 targets just to catch 100 passes. He is ass on my granny.”

There’s more.

“Dude tried to lie and say I was jealous of them making Chris WR1 whole time he can’t even get him a decent ball,” Thomas said. “He need his ass whooped. . . . They fired all them coaches trying to cover his flaws up he still doing the same shit.”

It’s a very real and raw reaction from Thomas about Carr. And it invites speculation regarding whether others agree with Thomas, or disagree.

Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was placed on a backboard and carted off after an illegal hit from Panthers defensive back Xavier Woods.

Olave was being covered by cornerback Mike Jackson on a high throw that sailed over his head with 7:02 remaining in the first quarter. Woods came in and delivered a finishing blow on a defenseless receiver.

Four flags were thrown on the play, but amazingly, Woods, one of the most penalized players in football since the start of the 2018 season, was not ejected by the league office.

Olave did move his feet and his hands as teammates gave him high-fives before he left. He rode to the tunnel with his hands over his face.

The Saints ruled him out immediately with a concussion.

“He has movement in all extremities and is undergoing further evaluation at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center,” the team said in a statement.

Olave was diagnosed with a concussion in Week 6 and was cleared of a concussion during last week’s game after another hard hit to the head. He said last week he was considering wearing a Guardian Cap, but he did not have one on today.

Olave also was diagnosed with a concussion in his rookie season in 2022 in Week 5 and missed the following game. He was ruled out of a Week 12 game against the Falcons last year with a concussion.

It was Woods’ ninth unnecessary roughness penalty of his career with two horse collars and a facemask, too. He had 20 penalties for 275 yards in his career before today.

The Saints lead the Panthers 6-0.

Every week we bring you all the inactives from the 1 p.m. ET games in one post, constantly updated with the latest information.

Before the Commanders held their pregame workout at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, head coach Dan Quinn said that running back Brian Robinson was ready to get rolling with his teammates. Robinson’s roll didn’t take him very far, though.

Robinson’s workout before the game was cut short by the hamstring injury that led him to be listed as questionable. Robinson landed on the inactive list that was released 90 minutes before the kickoff of the Commanders’ game against the Giants as a result.

Robinson ran for 133 yards in a Week Two Washington home win over the Giants, but they’ll need others to lead the way if they’re going to finish off a sweep.

The Steelers don’t play this weekend. Which gives the organization more time to attempt to finalize a trade for a starting receiver.

It started before the season, when they hoped to trade for 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk. They were linked to Davante Adams, before he was traded by the Raiders to the Jets.

More recently, and as noted by Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the Steelers were in the process of finalizing a trade for Jaguars receiver Christian Kirk, before he broke a collarbone during a Week 8 loss to the Packers.

There are other potential trade targets. Schefter mentions Panthers receiver Adam Thielen and Jets receiver Mike Williams.

The Jets tried to trade Williams after trading for Adams. With Allen Lazard on injured reserve with a chest injury for at least three more games, the Jets arguably need him.

Other names to watch, in our view, include Patriots receiver Kendrick Bourne, Dolphins receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Raiders receiver Jakobi Meyers, and Giants receiver Jalin Hyatt.

There’s still a chance the Steelers will stand pat. They don’t like to give up future draft assets, and they’ll wait for a good deal. They don’t make desperate moves.

Absent a trade, they’ll move forward with George Pickens, Van Jefferson, Calvin Austin III, Scotty Miller, and Roman Wilson (if/when he’s healthy).

Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen isn’t ready to get back in the lineup yet.

Thielen was downgraded to out by the team on Saturday. Thielen remains on injured reserve with a hamstring injury and was originally listed as doubtful to play.

Rookie running back Jonathon Brooks is in the same boat. He remains on the non-football injury list and his NFL debut will have to wait at least one more week.

Defensive tackle Jaden Crumedy, safety Jordan Fuller, and linebacker D.J. Wonnum will not be activated for Sunday’s game against the Saints either.

The Panthers also signed tight end Jordan Matthews to the active roster. The rounded out the day’s moves by elevating cornerback Caleb Farley and wide receiver Deven Thompkins from the practice squad.
