The boys from Bet the EDGE took a final look at the NFC North clash in Detroit between the Lions and the Chicago Bears.
Justin Fields is expected back this weekend for Chicago. The Bears are getting 7.5 points at DraftKings with the O/U set at 48. The public continues to love this Lions’ team and believes the line is a little light.
Drew Dinsick (@whale_capper) of Bet the EDGE, however, is thinking otherwise.
“I would go the other way. I think this should be inside a touchdown. I think you’re getting a unique opportunity right now where people have kind of written off the Bears based on their early season performances…The market has gotten a little too excited about how good the Lions actually are because the Lions are a good but flawed team. They put that on display pretty clearly, specifically on the defensive side of the wall last week against the Chargers. This sets up I think fairly well for the Bears to be competitive.”

Jay Croucher (@croucherJD) looked to support the theory Detroit is a bit over-hyped.
“What I don’t understand about the Lions is their defense right now is ninth in EPA per play, which certainly doesn’t match the eye test. I think a lot of that is driven by luck. The fact they had so many drops against them against the Chiefs in Week 1. The fact that Jimmy Garoppolo just had a complete implosion and missed Devontae Adams on two 60+ yard touchdown passes. The fact that Justin Herbert with one receiver was able to put up 38 points against them…So I agree with the Lions skepticism.”
That said, Croucher is willing to consider the Bears at that number and is leaning towards the Over.
“I’m just worried that the Bears’ pass rush…I know with Sweat it’s better but by better, I mean no longer non-existent. But going up against that Detroit offensive line. I think Goff in the dome is going to be good enough to pick apart the Bears’ secondary. So, I would lean towards this being a shootout. I don’t have a great deal of confidence in the Bears’ secondary.
