With injury concerns at tight end, the 49ers moved to bolster their depth at the position on Saturday, signing Derek Carrier from the practice squad.

The 49ers’ top tight end, Vernon Davis, is questionable for Sunday’s game at New Orleans with a concussion. He was a limited practice participant throughout the week. Also, Niners reserve tight end Garrett Celek (hamstring) is doubtful for Sunday.

Carrier, 23, had stints with the Raiders and Eagles before joining the Niners’ practice squad on Sept. 3. He is a product of Beloit (Wisc.) College.

The signing of Carrier gives the 49ers four tight ends on the roster.
