The 49ers haven’t been able to run the ball this year. They’ve struggled to protect Alex Smith.
Their offensive line was supposed to be the foundation to the team, but it hasn’t worked out that way so far.
“Contrary to everyone’s belief, we don’t suck,” tackle Staley said via Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. “We’re good players and we play well. It comes down to everybody executing. It takes all 11 guys. It doesn’t take five offensive linemen to make a running play go.”
Staley goes on to talk about all the other components of a running play. Whoever is at fault, the 49ers can improve on things this week.
The Eagles don’t scare you as a run-stopping team, so we expect to see plenty of Kendall Hunter playing behind banged-up starter Frank Gore. Staley and friends could struggle to pass protect against Trent Cole, Jason Babin, and company.
